Sharon Epstein is a Nationally Registered Dance Movement Therapist since 1989 and a New York State Licensed Creative Arts Therapist. Throughout the years, Sharon continually builds and broadens her knowledge, skills and experience in working with the body/mind/spirit paradigm. She continues to take numerous workshops and classes but learns most from the classes and clients she teaches.
As a yoga teacher, Sharon received her 300 hour level training from Laughing Lotus, NYC (2012) and her 200 hour training at the Yoga and Polarity Center of Malverne, Long Island (2007) She has additional training in prenatal yoga (2008) and yoga for kids (2004) She teaches yoga classes and private instruction in several Long Island Yoga centers and in private homes. She proudly has co-created an embodied Yoga and Judaism class at Temple Beth El, Great Neck.
As a dance movement therapist she has worked within the field of general psychiatry and substance abuse, at Gracie Square Hospital, NYC (1988-1995) She has worked with geriatrics at The Hebrew Home for the Aged, Riverdale (1994-1995) and in oncology at Monter Cancer Center, Lake Success (2007-2011) She has trained to work with people recovering from cancer and other chronic illnesses from two nationally recognized programs, Moving For Life by Dr. Martha Eddy and Healthy Steps, the Lebed Method.
Sharon currently leads dance programs for women with cancer. She also now works with people with Parkinson’s Disease after studying with The Mark Morris Dance Group in their Dance for PD program.
Sharon is so very grateful and appreciative for the shared wisdom and energy of the many teachers, colleagues and students/clients she was worked with among the yoga and dance community.
